Alternative Airlines teams up with crypto service Utrust, promising lower fees and better security

UK-based travel company Alternative Airlines, has teamed up with crypto service Utrust to allow customers to pay in cryptocurrency.

Utrust says Alternative Airlines services are now available via Bitcoin, Ethereum, Dash, DigiByte and Utrust’s native token UTK.

Alternative Airlines lets customers search for flights and buy tickets from major airlines, such as British Airways, Delta, United, Emirate, and more.

The new partnership will allow booking with a crypto-to-cash settlement, which will cut handling fees, according to Utrust CEO, Nuno Correia. He also said that Utrust will increase the security and convenience of such payments to customers.

Crypto payments are not yet common in mainstream finance, but some major tourism companies have tested options for crypto payments. Expedia accepted Bitcoin until June 2018, but the option has now been removed.

Richard Branson's Virgin Airlines also lets customers pay with Bitcoin and Virgin Mobile.
