The decentralised finance (DeFi) ecosystem Ampleforth is gaining traction after recently announcing its own stablecoin titled SPOT. This marks the continuation of its goal to provide a safe and innovative platform for investors.
As of 6 July, its governance token FORTH saw a 25% rise on the previous seven days. But it still has a long way to go before climbing back to its launch price.
What is Ampleforth?
Like many DeFi ecosystems, Ampleforth is looking to develop a safer and resilient financial platform. This comes with the tricky balancing act of managing innovation and security.
There are currently two intrinsic factors to the Ampleforth ecosystem, its unit of account currency AMPL and its decentralised autonomous organisation (DAO) governance protocol.
At its core, AMPL is a series of instructions that are laid out on the Ethereum blockchain. Rather than a stablecoin that is pegged to an asset’s moving price, AMPL is a unit of account that targets the consumer price index (CPI) adjusted 2019 USD price.
AMPL uses an elastic supply to enable this. When the price of AMPL surpasses its target, more tokens are automatically minted. The opposite occurs when AMPL falls below the targeted price.
As a result of this predictable price, AMPL can be used for derivatives, safe asset collateral, lending, and borrowing. The Ampleforth ecosystem’s website states: “The unit of account function of money is fundamental because it enables the denomination of predictable contracts. Such contracts are the building blocks of our financial system today.”
Evan Kuo is the founder and CEO behind Ampleforth. He has built a career in technology companies and had previously founded other organisations, like the Facebook advertisement firm Crowdrally.
The Ampleforth Governance Token
Powering both the AMPL currency and its backed treasury is a DAO. This is governed by holders of the Ampleforth Goverance Token, who make decisions about the future of the ecosystem.
The ecosystem’s website adds: “Although the Ampleforth protocol is simple and its most important qualities cannot be changed, configuration parameters, which platforms and services it integrates with, and broader ecosystem functions are subject to change over time.”
Proposals put to the DAO, include whether to mint new tokens and integrate with other crypto oracles.
FORTH launched on 21 April 2021 at $54.44 and was listed on Coinbase the same day. It immediately rocketed to its all-time high of $71.37 the following day, 22 April, according to CoinMarketCap. But the valuation was too high for the token and it eventually plummeted over the next few weeks. By 22 June, it had fallen nearly 85% and closed the day at $10.71.
From there it saw a slight rebound, which came after a bridge to Binance Smart Chain launched. But FORTH could only reach a daily high of $24.47 on 27 June.
FORTH came close to that level again in August, following the official Ampleforth non-fungible tokens (NFTs) going live. Holders of the governance token were able to vote on their favourite designs. The token was able to climb to a peak of $23.29 on 25 August.
Another governance vote took place later that year, which had more of an influence on the Ampleforth ecosystem. On 17 November, investors voted on whether to implement the data oracle Tellor into Ampleforth. The proposal passed with a 99% majority and FORTH reached a high of $17.40 a few days later on 27 November.
Yet the token soon fell victim to the bear market. It fell below the $10 mark in late December 2021 and earlier January 2022. FORTH dropped even further, along with the crypto crash, stooping to its all-time low of $1.98 on 12 May.
However, it is currently showing signs of recovery as it gears up to launch its own stablecoin under the ticker SPOT. As of 6 July, FORTH was trading at around $3.63, which was 25% up on the previous seven days.
Ampleforth Governance Token price prediction
After the recent breakout, there are some optimistic forecasts. TechNewsLeader’s FORTH price prediction suggests it will hit $6.15 in a year and $19.43 in five years’ time. Its Ampleforth Governance Token price prediction for 2030 gives a bullish maximum price of $89.14. And the price will rise even further, hitting $127.04 by 2031.
A similar outlook is given by PricePrediction which foresees that the token will average out at $3.14 this year. Its Ample Forth Governance Token price prediction for 2025 expects it to climb just above $10 achieving a price of $10.12 while it rocket higher still to $63.67 in 2030.
Captain Altcoin is also bullish over Ampleforth’s potential. Its FORTH token price prediction suggests it will easily surpass $5 in 2025, achieving up to $8.21, before going up further to $20.52 in 2030.
But not everyone is convinced. WalletInvestor offers an Ampleforth Governance Token price prediction for 2022 of $0.25 by the end of December that year and stoop to $0.17 in a year’s time. For 2025, its FORTH coin price prediction anticipates it to fluctuate around the $0.04 mark.

How and where to buy Ampleforth Governance Token?
There are many exchanges listing the governance token, including Binance, Coinbase and Gate.io.
Will FORTH token go up?
Despite FORTH’s recent bearish trend, there is mostly a bullish consensus about the token’s future. TechNewsLeader is the most optimistic, suggesting FORTH could eventually surpass $100 in 2031.
But it is important to note that FORTH has been depreciating, so you should conduct thorough due diligence and never invest more than you can afford to lose.
