The company was founded by Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak in April 1976. Although demand for Apple’s personal computers boomed in the 1980s, it struggled to hold market share against Microsoft in the 1990s.
Apple underwent a resurgence in the 2000s as it began to branch out into consumer electronics – diversifying into music players, mobile phones and tablets. The company is consistently named as one of the world’s most valuable brands.
