Aussie rugby team partners with blockchain social media platform
The LoveChain states it is the first social media platform built on blockchain technology

The St George Illawarra Dragons, the Australian professional rugby league club, have announced a partnership with The LoveChain, a Sydney-based blockchain technology and cryptocurrency social media platform.
The LoveChain gives “each user a unique cryptographic number that ensures permanent data protection and exclusive digital real estate”.
The rugby team, nicknamed the Dragons, represent both the Illawarra and St George regions of New South Wales and competes in the Australia and New Zealand National Rugby League (NRL).

Built on the Algorand blockchain
The LoveChain is built on the Algorand blockchain and allows users to create, share and sell non-fungible tokens (NFTs) “from their own content”. It also has its own e-commerce marketplace focused on the ‘love’ economy.
The platform believes that by incorporating the world’s most-used hashtag #Love into its social community, makes it better designed to “commemorate beloved people”.
The LoveChain and the Dragons will work together to “investigate the opportunity of producing NFTs” for rugby league fans.
The LoveChain has a crypto listed on CoinMarketCap called The LoveChain (LOV).
The LoveChain founder is a lifelong Dragons fan
Adam Mazzaferro, founder of The LoveChain said: “As a lifelong Dragons fan, it made perfect sense The LoveChain’s first partnership in professional sport is with the Dragons – one of the largest and most famous brands, not just in rugby league, but in Australian and New Zealand sport generally.
“It is exciting to see the Dragons building not only for the future on the field, with a nursery of rugby league’s most exciting young talent, but for the future off the field with a move into the cryptosphere and Web 3.0 by embracing this partnership with The LoveChain.
“Some of the innovative initiatives we are looking to collaborate with the Dragons on are unique ways of fan engagement, minting a suite of NFTs around their past and present players as well as auctioning off the first match day NFT ticket in Australian professional sport for their traditional Anzac Day clash against the Sydney Roosters, with all proceeds to be donated to a charity honouring our service men and women.”
Ryan Webb, CEO of The St George Illawarra Dragons, said: “The Dragons are excited by how quickly sport has immersed itself into this space. It made complete sense to develop a partnership with The Lovechain and the vastly growing possibilities of cryptocurrency and blockchain technology.”
