British Airways owner aims for net zero carbon emissions by 2050
As climate change protests continue, IAG is the first major airline group to commit to the target

IAG said it will introduce carbon offsetting for BA domestic flights from 2020. It will also invest in sustainable aviation fuel and replace older aircraft with more efficient jets over the next five years.
IAG claims these will help the airline contribute to Britain’s goal for a net zero carbon economy by 2050. They would also help to limit global warming to the United Nations target of 1.5 degrees.
This IAG pledge comes as the aviation industry faces pressure from climate change activism. Extinction Rebellion is in its fourth day of protests across major cities worldwide including central London.
An Extinction Rebellion activist has to be taken off a flight at London City Airport. The police made several arrests as activists blocked the main entrance to the airport.
