Rario, a non-fungible token (NFT) platform that allows fans to trade iconic moments from cricket history, is to partner with blockchain protocol Polygon.

Polygon's new arm, Polygon Studios, will build the Rario platform, which will allow fans to make faster and easier transactions.

Users will be able to gather digital NFT collectables of their favourite cricket players using Polygon Studios' game and NFT hub.

Rario has already partnered with cricket leagues around the world, including the Lanka Premier League and the Caribbean Premier League.

‘Changing the way fans interact with cricket’

Sandeep Nailwal, co-founder of Polygon, said: "Our aim behind setting up Polygon Studios was always to facilitate a hotbed of digital culture, which is a vision that we are pleased to share with Rario.

“With its commitment to making the best use of modern technology to shape fandom for generations to come and change the way the fans interact with the game of cricket, we believe Rario is laying down the foundations for making digital collectables the most prized asset for sports fans in India and across the world.

"Polygon Studios is thrilled to be on this pioneering journey with the Rario team."

Polygon and NFTs

Polygon Studios' ecosystem already consists of games and NFT dApps such as OpenSea, Upshot, Aavegotchi, Zed Run, SkyWeaver, MegaCryptoPolis and Neon District.

Polygon describes itself as "a protocol and framework for building and connecting Ethereum-compatible blockchain networks". It says it hosts more than 300 NFT and gaming companies “with five to six times more gaming and NFT dApps than any other chain outside Ethereum”.

WWE and NFTs

Earlier this week Kurt Angle, the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) hall-of-fame star and former freestyle wrestling Olympic gold medallist, launched his first ever NFT.

Angle is launching the NFT with LuchaCoin, which unveiled its first Lucha NFTs in April 2021. Angle is not the first wrestler LuchaCoin has worked with, as the company has also partnered with Angelina Love, Gail Kim and El Phantasmo.

The Kurt Angle Gold Card NFT features the “greatest” moments in the wrestler’s life, such as the 1996 Olympic Games and his pro wrestling championship runs.

Owners of the NFT will be included in social media posts from verified Kurt Angle accounts on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram, as well as receiving a personal video message and a Zoom meet and greet.

Rario will be launching this weekend (14-15 August).
