Crypto market update: BTC falls to $42,000

Out of the top 100 cryptos on CoinMarketCap, 95 are down today

The price of bitcoin (BTC) ended yesterday on $44,893 after rising 3.01% on the day, according to The lead cryptocurrency price is now $42,337.

The volume of BTC is down by 5.58% over the past 24 hours. All top 10 cryptos are down on CoinMarketCap, with BTC down by 3.25%.

Ethereum (ETH) is down by 7.02% to $2,865, cardano (ADA) is down by 3.58% to $2.13 amd binance coin (BNB) is down by 6.82% to $347.

Ripple (XRP) is also down by 7.29% to $0.91. Dogecoin (DOGE) is down 8.34% to $0.20. The stablecoin tether (USDT) is down 0.02% to $1.

Biggest risers and fallers    

The biggest riser of the day is Ren (REN), which is up by 18.66% to $0.95. According to CoinMarketCap, REN “is an open protocol built to provide interoperability and liquidity between different blockchain platforms”.

The second-biggest riser of the day is Tezos (XTZ), which has risen by 9.15% to $6.29. XTZ, as CoinMarketCap describes it “is a blockchain network that’s based on smart contracts, in a way that’s not too dissimilar to ethereum”.

The third-biggest riser of the day is NEAR Protocol (NEAR), up by 5.18% to $7.90. CoinMarketCap states that NEAR “is a decentralised application platform designed to make apps usable on the web”.

Huobi Token (HT) is the biggest faller of the day, dropping by 20.06% to $9.97. HT “is the native token of the cryptocurrency exchange Huobi Global. It is a decentralised digital asset based on the Ethereum blockchain”, according to CoinMarketCap.

The second-biggest faller of the day is OKB (OKB), which has dropped by 16.89% to $13.99. CoinMarketCap says OKB “is a cryptocurrency released by the OK Blockchain Foundation and Maltese crypto exchange, OKEx, one of the largest in the world”.

The third-biggest drop of the day is Filecoin (FIL), which has fallen by 14.75% to $62.35. FIL “was founded by Juan Benet, who also created the Interplanetary File System. Benet is an American computer scientist who studied at Stanford University”, says CoinMarketCap.
