Formula 1 announces Overtake Award

The F1 driver with the most overtakes in a season will receive the award

Formula 1 (F1), the highest class of international auto racing for single-seater formula racing cars, has announced the Overtake Award. The winner of the award will be the driver who has made the most overtakes during the season.

According to F1, the award “which is the first of its kind, is designed to celebrate the bravery exhibited by drivers who make bold moves in pursuit of success”.

The first Overtake Award will be given to the driver with the “most overtakes throughout the entirety of the 2021 FIA Formula One World Championship and the winner will be presented with a trophy at the end of the season”.

'Master of the pass'

According to F1, the driver who wins the award will be referred to as the “master of the pass”. For the award, new broadcast graphics will be introduced live during each race to signal overtaking possibilities. The new function will help fans to keep track of a driver’s progress towards the Overtake Award.    

In addition, branded content will be introduced to the official F1 social media and digital platforms.’s partnership with F1 began in July when it became the sport’s seventh Global Partner and Title Partner of the three F1 Sprint Events this season. The first sprint event took place at Silverstone in the UK, the second will be at Monza in Italy and the third in São Paulo in Brazil. F1 said the partnership was “met with positive feedback from stakeholders and fans alike”.

The multiyear agreement will allow to place its branding on fight kit worn by UFC athletes during its competitions, as well as on clothing (shorts, sports bras and hoodies) worn by training staff.

It will also be integrated into UFC content on both linear and digital platforms, including live broadcasts, pay-per-views and UFC-owned social media channels. said it will be designated UFC’s Cryptocurrency Platform Partner in the sports organisation’s newly created sponsorship category.
