Miami International Airport gets its first Bitcoin cash machine
Airport ATM takes total number of Bitstop machines to 130
Cryptocurrency ATM provider Bitstop has installed a Bitcoin (BTC) machine at Miami International Airport, allowing customers to buy and sell Bitcoin for cash while traveling. The company said it hopes to have 500 Bitcoin ATMs installed worldwide by the end of 2020.
Bitstop is the largest Bitcoin ATM operator in Florida, but just one of many around the world. According to website coinatmradar.com there are over 3000 Bitcoin ATMs in the US alone.
Doug Carrillo, Bitstop co-founder and chief strategy officer said the location is strategic for the machine, given that Miami’s airport is the third-busiest in the US in terms of international passenger traffic. It is also the largest gateway between the US and Latin America and is one of the largest airline hubs in the US.
“More and more people prefer to travel with Bitcoin instead of cash for convenience and security. Miami International Airport is a perfect place for our customers to conveniently exchange their dollars for Bitcoin and vice versa when traveling domestically or abroad,” he said.
Miami Airport marks Bitstop’s 40th Bitcoin ATM installation over the last two months and brings Bitstop’s total Bitcoin ATM count to 130 machines nationwide.
