Amazon launches its own-label spirit brand
Tovess Gin is the only alcoholic product listed as an Amazon brand on its UK site
Amazon has unveiled its first own-label spirit brand in the UK, called Tovess Gin.
The drink is billed as a “premium single batch crafted dry gin” and is sold for £24.99 ($32.32, E28.92) for a 70cl bottle (41.5 per cent abv). It is produced at a distillery on the outskirts of Birmingham, UK.
Available exclusively on the Amazon website since September 20, the gin has been created using a blend of botanical ingredients, infused with individually distilled lime and grapefruit peels.
Gin is the UK’s most popular spirit, according to market research company Kantar, with more than a quarter of the population buying a bottle in the 12 months to June 2019, CNBC reported.
Unlike some other spirits, gin doesn’t require ageing so it is relatively quick and inexpensive to produce.
Tovess Gin is the only alcoholic product listed as an Amazon brand on the UK site, while other Amazon-brand groceries include Solimo coffee capsules and Happy Belly dried fruit and nuts.
Tovess Gin is eligible for one-day delivery to Amazon Prime members and those buying a bottle will need to provide proof of age on delivery.
