IEA and CAF launch strategy for energy efficiency in buildings

The International Energy Agency (IEA) and the Development Bank of Latin America (CAF) are launching a six-week online open course on energy efficiency in buildings.

The course starts on November 4 and is free of charge. It aims to “empower participants” to identify practical ways to improve energy efficiency in buildings, the IEA said.

Building floor area could more than double in Latin America by 2060, it added, which would have a huge effect on energy systems.

However, IEA analysis shows that cost-effective energy efficiency could stabilise consumption at today’s levels.

The course consists of four modules covering technical, design, policy and financial aspects of Latin America and the Caribbean.

It will also cover how building design can reduce energy waste, the benefits of saving energy, and what makes an efficient buildings sector.
