Thieves drill through warehouse wall in Malaysia

Four men and a woman have been arrested in Malaysia for stealing 85 bitcoin ATM machines, worth 42,500 Malaysian ringgit (£8,000, €9,300, $10,300).

There are currently just nine Bitcoin machines in Malaysia.

The gang of five rented a building in Seremban, south of Kuala Lumpur, next to a warehouse, which stored the bitcoin ATMs. They drilled through the concrete connecting wall and drove off with their haul.

Police were alerted to the robbery on October 29 when a shopkeeper reported 85 bitcoin ATMs were missing. The police arrested the suspects in separate raids.

They are aged between 25 and 46 years; three are Malaysian and two Indonesian.

According to Seremban police chief supt, Mohd Said Ibrahim, some of the suspects were working as traders and construction workers, while others were unemployed.

Police also seized a car, a four-wheel-drive vehicle and several pieces of equipment used for the robbery.
