Bitcoin Suisse forms new partnership to offer crypto payment services to Swiss retailers
85,000 Swiss merchants will benefit from the new crypto payment service which will later be rolled out into Europe
Bitcoin Suisse, the oldest and largest crypto financial services company in Switzerland, and Worldline, a European payment and transactional services provider, have partnered to offer cryptocurrency payment services to Swiss merchants and consumers both in physical stores and online.
The new system will be available for the 85,000 Swiss merchants currently using SIX Payment Services, which is part of Worldline, allowing businesses to accept cryptocurrencies for payments.
The service will be “intuitive and straightforward” both for sales staff and online shoppers, as well as simple and secure, Bitcoin Suisse claims.
Payouts to merchants will be made in Swiss francs or Euros and the transaction figures will be integrated into the merchant reports like any other card or wallet.
Marc Schluep, CEO of Worldline in Switzerland said that through the cooperation with Bitcoin Suisse, merchants can benefit from an “entirely new offering without taking any conversion risk”.
Worldline and Bitcoin Suisse presented further details about the partnership between the two industry leaders, at the Swiss Payments Forum in Zurich on 11 and 12 November.
After a successful launch in Switzerland, Worldline will expand its new cryptocurrency payment service across Europe. No time frame of this has been disclosed.
The partnership between both companies aims at reinforcing Switzerland’s position as a strong centre in the crypto-financial services industry.
With over 800 companies currently developing solutions or offering services to crypto and blockchain companies, Switzerland’s Crypto Valley has grown into a well-known location for future innovation in the space.
