PornHub models will no longer be able to use PayPal’s payment support

By Ramla Soni

PornHub will provide other payment methods including the Verge cryptocurrency

PayPal is no longer supporting payments for PornHub, a decision that could impact thousands of performers using the adult entertainment site as a source of income.

PornHub not only allows access to watch porn but also allows performers to upload, sell, and monetise videos they make themselves. Performers who used PayPal to get paid for this work will now have to switch to a different payment method.

The cancellation of the services comes after PayPal found that the website made certain payments without the permission of the payment processor.

In a blog post PornHub said: “We are all devastated by PayPal's decision to stop payouts to over a hundred thousand performers who rely on them for their livelihoods. We sincerely apologise if this causes any delays and we will have staff working around the clock to make sure all payouts are processed as fast as possible on the new payment methods.”

The company directed users to set up other payment methods and gave instructions on how PayPal users can transfer pending payments.

Other payment methods including cheque, direct deposit, the Paxum e-wallet, and the Verge cryptocurrency will still be available. Direct deposit is currently available for US and Canadian models only, PornHub said.

Last month, PayPal removed itself as a backer of the Libra Association, the governing body of Facebook’s Libra digital currency.
