Coinbase Wallet may remove DApp browser to comply with App Store policy

Coinbase CEO reveals Apple's eliminating the usage of DApps

Coinbase's mobile crypto wallet, Coinbase Wallet, might be forced to remove its in-built decentralised application (DApp) browsing feature in order to comply with Apple's new rules.

The blog post published on Reddit cites the message that has recently appeared in Coinbase Wallet. It says that due to the App Store policy the DApp browser functionality could be soon removed. However, if the customers want to use it, they could still find it in the browser version of the wallet.

Coinbase CEO Bill Armstrong later commented on the post, stating that Apple "seems to be eliminating the usage of DApps from the App Store." He supposed that would extend to other crypto wallets and pose "a very big threat to the ecosystem."

Armstrong also urged Apple users to ask the corporation to allow DApps on its store, as those are very important for the crypto community.

"This is an important area of innovation in finance, and many developers and early adopters of this technology have millions of dollars worth of crypto tied up in these financial applications, which they will no longer be able to use on Apple mobile devices if this app store policy continues,” he concluded.

The move comes shortly after Google removed Ethereum-based DApp MetaMask from the Google Play App Store for Android users. The corporation cited the policy that bans mining on mobile. MetaMask's appeal to restore the app was rejected.

Earlier in December, some crypto influencers accused YouTube of censoring their content. As some of the major bloggers spoke out, part of the videos was restored. The video platform cited an error in the review process as the main reason behind the incident.
