OnlyFans donates 500 ETH to UkraineDAO

OnlyFans the internet content subscription service has reportedly donated 500 Ethereum (ETH) which is almost $1.3m to Ukraine decentralised autonomous organisation (DAO).

Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, nicknamed Nadya Tolokn, co-founder of Pussy Riot, the Russian feminist protest punk rock group and critic of Russian president Vladimir Putin helped to set up the UkraineDAO.

UkraineDAO is sending funds to Ukraine’s charities during the Russian invasion and as of the 3 March had raised $6.75m (£5.16m).

Trippy Labs, a non-fungible token (NFT) studio and PleasrDAO, a collection of Decentralised Finance (DeFi) leaders, also played a part in establishing UkraineDAO.

UkraineDAO uses “the power of Web3 tech and community to raise funds” for Ukrainians under attack, is selling 10,000 NFTs of the Ukrainian flag, minted on the Ethereum blockchain to help support the country.

OpenSea, the world’s largest marketplace for NFTs, MoonPay, a platform that allows you to buy and sell crypto and Origin Protocol, a platform for hosting NFT sales have all pledged to support the initiative as well.

OnlyFans Ukrainian ties

Leonid Radvinsky, currently the majority owner of OnlyFans is a Ukrainian-American who is leading the charitable donations coming from the company to Ukraine.

All together OnlyFans has sent over $5m (£3.82m) to various humanitarian efforts supporting Ukraine with an additional $1m (£0.76m) donation planned to be sent on 15 March.

Amrapali Gan, CEO of OnlyFans, said: “These tragic events have had a terrible impact on individuals including members of our creator community. Given our strong personal ties to Ukraine, we wanted to support in a way which felt true to who we are at OnlyFans and which focused on getting aid and support to the Ukrainian people.”

Ukraine government accepts crypto donations

On 26 February, the Ukrainian government announced via Twitter that it would accept crypto donations.

The government originally announced it would only accept bitcoin (BTC), ETH and tether (USDT).

However, Mykhailo Fedorov, Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, tweeted on 2 March that they would also be accepting dogecoin (DOGE) and solana (SOL) donations.
