Picasso heirs partner with John Legend to launch NFT collection
The 1010 NFTs series will be divided in two parts
Picasso’s granddaughter, Marina Picasso, and her son, DJ Florian Picasso, have catapulted the Spanish founder of the Cubist art movement into the metaverse as they launch Man and The Beat, an NFT collection inspired by Picasso artworks.
The Marina and Florian Picasso Man and The Beat collection will be launching the genesis NFT collection in two parts, recalling the names of two ceramic artworks among the several ceramics and pottery works signed by Pablo Picasso inspiring the NFTs.
‘Visage de Lumière’ will be released on the Nifty Gateway NFT platform on 28 January, while ‘Visage de Couleur’, a collection of five different limited editions of 200 each, will be released on the heirs’ new website, powered by the Origin Protocol platform, on 28 January.
An additional 10 NFTs will be released at the conclusion of a follow-up drop, bringing the total of pieces minted for the collection to 1010 NFTs.
Florian Picasso tweeted: “My first NFT collection together with my mother Marina Picasso is out this Friday on @niftygateway and @OriginProtocol! Proud to have collaborated with the amazing @johnlegend and @Nas on the music of the collection #ManAndTheBeat.”
John Legend single ‘Tomorrow’
The great-grandson of the famed artist, Florian Picasso also collaborated with top-tier musicians Nas and John Legend on a new track titled ‘Tomorrow’ to give a musical touch to the collection.
“The single ‘Tomorrow’ will be featured as the backing audio for each NFT from the Origin drop, granting early access to fans who would like to preview the track via a visually sonic experience spanning the legacy of Picasso across four generations,” explained Origin.
“What an honor it was to work with Marina Picasso and @florianpicasso on this historic Man And The Beat NFT collection. Drops this Friday 01/28 with a snip of our upcoming single with @Nas & @FlorianPicasso! http://manandthebeat.com cc @NiftyGateway @originprotocol,” John Legend tweeted.
The Man and the Beat collection was produced by Florian Picasso’s manager, Cyril Noterman, Alex Harrow and Lucas Keller of Milk & Honey, Nicholas Guarino of Art Redefined, global hit-maker Stuart Price and David Brady of Spin Artist Agency.
The collection is the first in a series that will be presented by Marina and Florian Picasso, all featuring NFTs paired with collaborations from some of today’s most influential musicians.
A portion of the NFT proceeds will be donated towards Nurse Heroes, a charity organisation working to create a future without a workforce nurse-shortage, as well as Carbon180, a new breed of climate-focused NGO on a mission to fundamentally rethink carbon.
