Reddit user becomes a millionaire after gaining access to his 127 BTCs

The Redditor said that he found the private keys for the wallet inside an old Dell computer at his grandfather's house

Under the alias "BitcoinHolderThankU", a user has posted on Reddit the fascinating news of his discovery of long-buried BTCs. The post has been lately deleted.

The Redditor wrote that when he arrived to visit his grandfather and spend Christmas holidays with him, he found a digital key for a wallet containing 127 BTCs inside an old computer.

BitcoinHolderThankU said that he never bought Bitcoins. In the years 2011-2012 while playing a video game called Dark Orbit with his friends, he discovered that he could obtain the game’s coin Uridium (for the purpose of purchasing items in the game in question) through a new digital currency called Bitcoin.

BitcoinHolderThankU resorted to completing surveys, watching videos and other small random tasks on the Internet in order to collect Bitcoins. At that time, some websites and projects were implementing such measures in order to promote cryptocurrencies and attract new users.

BitcoinHolderThankU said he was able to collect 127 BTCs through these small tasks. The Redditor added that he did not use the Bitcoins that he obtained in order to buy items in his favourite game and that the amount was saved for a long time.

BitcoinHolderThankU revealed that in early January he sold the 127 BTCs to a platform that practises the OTC trade of Bitcoins for about $4.24m. The user explained that he could have earned an additional $1m if he waited several days because the price of one Bitcoin rose from $34,000 at the time of sale to $42,000. He also attached a photo from inside his wallet, showing the amount.

BitcoinHolderThankU later admitted that he was quick to sell all the Bitcoins he owned and that if he had the opportunity again he would keep some of them for years to come.
