Tiqets, a startup out of Amsterdam that has built a platform for booking tickets for tourist attractions, has raised $60 million (€54 million, £47 million) in a Series C funding round led by Airbnb to expand its platform and wider business, the company revealed.

Tiqets has sold millions of tickets in over 60 countries to date and the company says it will use new funding to invest in initiatives that “accelerate its growth, build richer experiences for customers, and create better tools for its venue partners”.

The investment includes continued support from prior lead investors HPE Growth Capital and Investion, and it brings the total raised by Tiqets to $100 million (€90 million, £78 million).

Luuc Elzinga, co-founder and chiefdoms executive of Tiqets said: “From the start in 2014, Tiqets has connected millions of people globally to museums and attractions with instant, last-minute and mobile tickets.”

The company now employs 200+ people worldwide, including in its Amsterdam headquarters (HQ) as well as Seattle, Las Vegas, London, Bangkok, Tokyo and Osaka.
