Trump calls cryptos dangerous but promotes Melania’s NFTs
The former president makes it clear he stands behind the dollar

Former president Donald Trump has said that he is not a big fan of crypto, while at the same time promoting his wife Melania’s non-fungible token (NFT) project.
When asked by Fox Business presenter Maria Bartiromo, “What do you think about crypto?” Trump did not respond positively and made it clear that he is favour of the dollar.
Tump said: “Well, I never loved it because I like to have the dollar; I think the currency should be the dollar, so I was never a big fan. But it’s building up bigger and bigger, and nobody’s doing anything about it.
“Look, I want a currency called the dollar, I don’t want to have all these others, and that can be an explosion someday the likes of which we’ve never seen. It’ll make the big tech explosion look like baby stuff. I think it’s a very dangerous thing.”

Melania’s NFT platform
When asked about his wife’s new NFT project, he said: “She’s going to do great.”
This is despite the fact that NFTs use the same blockchain technology as cryptocurrencies.
Melania Trump’s first NFT to drop is called Melania’s Vision and is available to buy until 31 December.
The NFT was designed by artist Marc-Antoine Coulon and “embodies Mrs Trump’s cobalt blue eyes”. The NFT will also include an audio message of hope from the former first lady.
Solana and MoonPay deny involvement
Mrs Trump claimed the NFTs can be purchased using solana (SOL) or with credit card payments through MoonPay, a platform that enables you to buy and sell crypto. The Melania Trump NFT platform also uses the Solana blockchain protocol.
However, Solana and MoonPay claimed to know nothing about this.
A Solana spokesperson told Currency.com: “Solana is a permissionless, decentralised blockchain that anyone (and everyone) can build on. Solana Labs has no ability to control who can build on the network, and neither does any other network actor.
“Solana Labs had no prior knowledge of this project, and learned about it via Twitter.”
Meanwhile, MoonPay said: “MoonPay has no official role in the effort.”
A representative of MoonPay also told Currency.com: “Users will not be able to purchase Melania Trump NFTs via MoonPay. People can, however, buy solana in the Phantom wallet via MoonPay.”
