Binance to sponsor Argentina’s national football team
The global sponsorship deal will last for five years

Binance, currently the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange by trading volume, has become the global main sponsor of Argentina’s national football team.
The partnership will also see Binance launch the official Fan Token of the Argentine Football Association (AFA) and become the naming sponsor of the country’s professional soccer league, Primera División.
Binance will be the global main sponsor and the naming sponsor for a period of five years.
The agreement is a first for Binance, as the crypto exchange has never entered a sponsorship contract with a national football team worldwide before. The Fan Token will be launched “shortly”, according to Binance.
‘Football and cryptos are life in Argentina’
AFA president, Claudio Tapia said: “In recent years we have added many important commercial agreements, significantly increasing AFA’s income, in addition to venturing into new digital businesses with ample growth potential. This agreement with Binance meets all the conditions we are looking for.
“A leading global brand in its field, innovative and with a vision of creating new digital assets. We are very happy with the incorporation of Binance as a commercial partner of AFA. An alliance that is undoubtedly strategic and will generate excellent results for both parties.”
Maximiliano Hinz, director of Binance Latin America, said: “Football and cryptocurrencies are life in Argentina, so it makes sense for Binance to partner with the AFA. Through this agreement, we hope to support Argentine soccer at all levels and introduce Binance, the crypto world and the blockchain to soccer fans across the country and the world.
“From Binance, we are very happy to be able to accompany the AFA on its journey through the blockchain world. Thanks to this alliance we seek to bring all the benefits of our platform to the public of the selection. The Fan Token is going to bring many new features so that the public can have a much closer contact with the selection. We look forward to its release.“
Two-time winners of the Fifa World Cup
Argentina’s national football team has won the Fifa World Cup twice. Once in 1978 and again in 1986.
Lionel Messi, captain of the national team, won the Ballon d’Or Award in 2021.
The Ballon d’Or is an annual football award presented by French news magazine France Football. It is regarded as one of the oldest and most prestigious awards that an individual football player can receive.
Socios.com – the fan-engagement and reward app used and created by Chiliz, the global blockchain provider for the sports industry – became the official partner of the 2021 Ballon d’Or Award.
Socios.com had brand visibility on the red carpet for the event, where the ceremony took place on the banks of the River Seine.
