TSG Hoffenheim, a German football club that plays in the Bundesliga (the top tier of German football) and baby doge coin have signed a non-fungible token (NFT) partnership.

Baby doge coin is the world’s first cryptocurrency that is also a dog-based charity, and since its inception has donated almost $100,000 to charities that care for dogs. The partnership with TSG Hoffenheim means the two will work together on the development of club-specific NFTs.

The partnership, which begins with immediate effect, will also see LED advertisements placed around TSG Hoffenheim’s home ground, the PreZero Arena, and “other wide-reaching advertising tools and co-branded content”.

Official crypto partner

Denni Strich, CEO of TSG Hoffenhem, said: “TSG Hoffenheim are happy to be working together with such an innovative and leading brand like Baby Doge. We are excited and looking forward to a successful partnership, where we’ll bring an NFT collection from the club and other exciting projects to life.”

Mike Watson, project manager at Baby Doge, said: “We are proud to become TSG Hoffenheim’s official crypto partner and we’re looking forward to making NFT technology available to the club’s loyal fans.

“This collaboration will further strengthen Hoffenheim’s reputation as a forward-looking, technology-driven Bundesliga club. The deal is also a win-win for the entire Baby Doge community, as it expands our digital presence in the global market and places Baby Doge in the Bundesliga, while we continue to build our presence in the EU,” said Watson.

Bundesliga partners with Sorare

In October 2021, the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2, the top two tiers of the German football league system, partnered with French NFT football trading card game developer Sorare to launch NFTs for its players.

This has given fans the chance to be able to purchase NFTs of their favourite football players from the German league. If enough NFTs are collected, the purchaser can also create virtual teams.

This year, Sorare will also be publishing NFT-based videos from Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 matches. These will be known as ‘Moments’, and can also be collected and used to play in the fantasy football game.
