The cryptocurrency exchange Crypto.com is introducing a credit and debit card top-up fee for European Union (EU) and UK holders of the metal Crypto.com Visa Card.

From 4 July EU and UK customers will be paying a 1% top-up fee.

The crypto exchange explained that fees only apply when “topping up with a credit card and debit card” and that additional fees may apply separately from certain card issuers.

Why have these fees been introduced?

Crypto.com stated it views the card as the “world’s most popular crypto-linked card programme”, which is now available in over 40 countries. It has made the changes to “ensure the long-term sustainability of its growing card” project.

However, the card still offers zero fees when funding it with the Fiat Wallet and Crypto Wallet. Additionally, it offers up to 5% back on spending as well as LoungeKey airport lounge access, which allows users entry to more than 1,000 premium lounges in over 400 airports worldwide.

In addition, 100% rebates for Spotify, Netflix and Amazon Prime are other benefits that come with the Crypto.com Visa card.

All Crypto.com Visa cards are exclusive to Cronos (CRO) holders, and it was designed “to fit the needs of the consumers who are always on the move”.

22 cryptos can be used to top up Crypto.com card

Altogether, 22 cryptos can be used to top up the Crypto.com Visa card including Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Litecoin (LTC), Ripple (XRP), Tether (USDT), USD Coin (USDC), Cardano (ADA), Polygon (MATIC) and Zilliqa (ZIL).

Crypto.com will be official sponsor of FIFA World Cup 2022

In March, Crypto.com announced it would be an official sponsor of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, which starts in November.

The crypto platform will be the exclusive trading platform sponsor of Qatar 2022 and will “benefit from significant branding exposure both within and outside the tournament’s stadiums”.
