“Built with love” in New York City, the world’s first NFT restaurant will open in 2023, it was announced today.

The Flyfish Club (FFC) will be the world’s first members-only private dining club for which membership is purchased as a NFT. Token holders will gain access to the restaurant and various culinary, cultural and social experiences.

According to the restaurant description, FFC members will have unlimited access to a private dining room that will span across over 10,000 square feet in an iconic New York City location. The space will consist of a bustling cocktail lounge, an upscale restaurant, an intimate omakase room and an outdoor space. Omakase is a Japanese dining concept whereby the chef, not the diner, chooses the meal.

“VCR believes in differentiated restaurant and hospitality concepts that create unique guest experiences across multiple price points and occasions, both in the digital and physical space,” said VCR Group, which is developing the project.

The BlockBar experience

Meanwhile, another company is developing the first NFT bar experience. Since opening in 2021, the BlockBar has partnered with global wine and spirits brands including Glenfiddich, Royal Salute, The Dalmore and Penfolds.

Recently, the world’s first direct-to-consumer NFT marketplace for luxury wine and spirits products announced its record-breaking sale of a bottle of Hennessy·8 cognac.

The bottle was purchased by the Angry Pitbull NFT Club (APC) for ETH 66.49 (around $226,450) together with an NFT, while a series of 250 NFTs was sold separately on the platform.

The BlockBar stores all its products in a state-of-the-art temperature-controlled facility in Singapore until they are redeemed by buyers, who can decide to either resell each NFT on the secondary market, or simply drink the bottle.

Sam Falic, co-founder and president of BlockBar.com, said: “We bring spirits to all demographics, we’re democratising the traditional spirits industry and allowing everyone, anywhere in the world, to participate.

“This is revolutionary and something that could not have been done before BlockBar.com, and we expect to see an uptick in high-end spirits investments. We feel we are introducing the younger demographic to luxury spirits and the older demographic to NFTs,” he added.
