Orange revenues boosted by strong growth in Africa and Middle East

Communication giant’s sales rise by 0.8 per cent in the third quarter to $11.8 billion

Telecoms company Orange reported a 0.8 per cent increase in revenues year on year in the third quarter to 2019. The rise is driven primarily by continued strong growth in Africa and the Middle East.

The group’s revenues in Q3 amounted to €10.6 billion ($11.8bn, £9.1bn), while EBITDAL was up 0.2 per cent and eCAPEX 1 per cent.

In its home market of France, revenues in Q3 amounted to €4.5 billion in Q3, down 0.4 per cent on a year earlier, while in Spain they were 2.5 per cent lower at €1.3 billion.

Growth was strongest in Africa and the Middle East, up 7.6 per cent to €1.4 billion.

In Europe, the percentage of very high-speed fixed broadband customers now taking convergent services rose by 7 percentage points over one year to 55 per cent.

In Africa and the Middle East the deployment of 4G continued, with a total of over 22 million customers secured by the end of the 3rd quarter, a 49 per cent increase year on year.

In mobile, Orange now has 65.3 million 4G customers, 22 million of whom are in Africa and the Middle East.
