Paris Hilton’s latest TV appearance divided the NFT community as the American celebrity launched her upcoming NFT collection on The Tonight Show.

Hilton showed her Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) NFT to the show’s popular presenter Jimmy Fallon before unveiling her partnership with platform Superplastic for a new NFT series to be released on Origin Protocol.

She has also released her own NFT based on her romance with her new husband, the venture capitalist Carter Reum, who founded M13 Capital. The NFT, called My Forever Fairy Tale, is a photo collage that took her six months to make.

As well as giving Fallon a copy live on the show, Hilton also promised everyone in the studio audience would receive one, too – marking what Fallon described as “the first NFT giveaway in television history”.

Hilton has been named as one of the 50 most influential people in the NFT space, according to Forbes magazine.

A good spot for NFTs?

However, while the BAYC community celebrated Hilton ‘aping’ the club, some NFT enthusiasts reacted with jokes and memes.

Some NFT enthusiasts claim the value of NFTs is in the community itself, not in the images. “Paris Hilton on Jimmy Fallon show hurts me more than ETH dropping 50%,” tweeted Apeability.

Hilton commented on Twitter: “I love visiting Jimmy Fallon to talk about NFTs. I think the NFT community is innovating the art movement as a whole and pioneering a new creative economy for digital creators and collectors. The possibilities are endless.”

Paris Hilton and Jimmy Fallon NFT wallets

A quick glance at Paris Hilton’s wallet shows she owns 1,264 NFTs with the most expensive, the Paris Hilton Drip NFT, having a floor price of roughly $618,000 (£457,164).

The Ape shown in The Tonight Show only comes second and is estimated to be worth around $240,000. Overall, Paris Hilton’s NFT wallet is estimated to be worth $925,000 at the time of writing.

The celebrity also joined Sotheby’s Metaverse in 2021 and auctioned off some pieces alongside the US rapper Snoop Dogg, another NFT fan.

Meanwhile, Jimmy Fallon’s wallet includes a total of 1,544 NFTs. The TV host, who is a relative newcomer to the NFT environment, hasn’t spent as much on his collection.

His wallet is currently valued at around $235,000, while the BAYC he owns is estimated to be worth $225,000, meaning he spent around $10,000 for the remaining 1,543 NFTs he owns.
