Joe Kasser, the CEO of German industrial company Siemens, slammed the U.S. president Donald Trump for being “the face of racism and exclusion” in a series of tweets published on Saturday, July 20.

“I find it depressing that the most important political office in the world is turning into the face of racism and exclusion,” the tweet says. Kaeser also stressed that he lived in the U.S. for several years and experienced nothing but freedom and tolerance. However, the current political situation in the country is far from openness, he concluded.

The company’s stock saw a mild decline as the market opened Monday, July 22. The shares were trading at €99,32 at press time, which represents a 0.22% change.

Kaeser responded to Trump’s series of tweets where the president addressed “progressive Democrat Congresswomen” and suggested they “go back” where they came from. Trump did not mention the particular names, however, CNN assumed he referenced New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Rashida Tlaib of Michigan and Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts, mistakenly implying that they were not born in the U.S.

As per the Siemens website, the company has more than 50,000 employees in its multiple facilities across the country. Siemens has invested around $40 billion in the American industry, which reportedly is the company’s largest market. Moreover, it spends over $50 million each year on staff training in the country.
