VeVe announces Mickey Mouse NFT collection drop worth $2.3m
The collection celebrates some of Disney’s iconic mouse’s most iconic moments

Digital collectibles platform VeVe is about to drop its first collection of Mickey Mouse non-fungible tokens (NFTs), in partnership with Disney.
Around 40,000 pieces worth over $2.3m (around £1.7m) will be dropped as blind boxes, which means customers won’t know which rarity they’ve acquired until after their purchase.
The platform said that a 6% licensor fee will be applied to Disney sales in the secondary market in addition to the existing VeVe 2.5% secondary market fee.
The first series is composed of 18,928 ‘Jaunty Jug’ NFTs, 19,928 ‘A Happy Whistle’ NFTs and 6,928 ‘All together, Now’ NFTs, each priced individually at $60.
The Micky Mouse Collection – Series 1
Describing the drop, VeVe said, “The Disney Mickey Mouse NFT Collection features The True Original himself, Mickey Mouse! Celebrating some of Mickey’s most iconic moments, this collection highlights the cultural phenomenon and evolution of Mickey in his many forms and costumes.”
The first series will focus on scenes from Mickey’s first appearance in the 1928 black and white animated feature, Steamboat Willie. The mouse has subsequently gone on to become one of the most popular characters populating Disneyland, first opened by Walt Disney in Anaheim, California, on 17 July 1955.
The ‘Jaunty Jug’ NFTs features what VeVe describes as “a carefree and content Steamboat Mickey, looking ahead, dancing, and enjoying a beautiful day on his ship”. The ‘Happy Whistle’ NFTs offers “the quintessential Steamboat Mickey pose, featuring eyes closed and lips puckered, ready to whistle and move to the beat of his own ship”.
Finally, the ‘All Together, Now’ animated NFTs represents Steamboat Mickey “standing proudly on a base inspired by the animation discs which sat atop all the great animators’ desks at Walt Disney Animation Studios”.
The drop will launch later today (22 December) at 12:00 PT (UTC -8), and is exclusively available on VeVe’s iOS and Android app.
