Warrington Wolves to launch Rugby League’s first NFTs
The Warrington Wolves will be releasing the seven NFTs on 11 November

The Warrington Wolves, a UK professional rugby team who play in the Super League at the top level of the Rugby League, have announced they are releasing a series of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) to celebrate their new 2022 home and away kit.
The Wolves will be the first in the global Rugby League to drop NFTs, which the club feels will give “supporters and collectors, the opportunity to own a unique piece of digital content ahead of the new season,” according to a release.
Seven collectible pieces will be launched on 11 November. The NFTs will include a square animated image of the new 2022 home and away kit worn by George Williams, who plays as scrum half for Warrington Wolves, alongside his animated signature.
A personal video message is included with the NFTs
Everyone who purchases the 1-6 shirts NFTs will receive a personal video message from Williams. Those who buy the number 7 shirt at auction will also receive outtakes from filming the messages.
Owners of the NFTs will also be sent a physical shirt signed by Williams and framed.
The club has collaborated with specialist NFT services company NFT Workx to release these NFTs.
“Being progressive and innovative are two of our core values”
Karl Fitzpatrick, CEO of Warrington Wolves said: “Being progressive and innovative are two of our core values. Entering this space allows us to not only engage further with our supporters but also presents opportunities to expose the Warrington Wolves brand to a new audience, the digital community.
“To be the sport's first club to release a set of NFTs demonstrates our ambition and willingness to embrace modern technology and be at the forefront of new media and digital platforms.”
Adam Leese, co-founder of NFT Workx said: “Working with Warrington Wolves on their first NFT project has been an exciting one, especially as they will be the first Rugby League club in the world to fully launch an NFT project.
"Karl (Fitzpatrick) and his team are really forward thinking, and they fully appreciate the potential NFTs can have for the club and we are already working on plans for the next project.”
